Reasons You Should Never Drink Fireball

Fireball Cinnamon Whisky

If this if your drink of choice, you really need to get out more.

Oh, Fireball. What an embarrassment to alcohol. The cheap and syrupy cinnamon mixture was made for newbie drinkers and Solo cup college parties and that’s as far as it should have made it in the booze scene. Yet somehow it remains a popular order at bars nationwide. But this is wrong. So completely, sadly, and utterly wrong. Sure it might serve its purpose in a big batch Jell-O shot, but if it’s your favorite booze, then you really need to sort out your priorities. Because there are more than enough reasons to not drink Fireball.

Fireball Is Very Popular Amongst Country Music Artists

Fireball’s meteoric rise has made it popular with just about every demographic, from college students to their grandmas. But there may be no group of people who enjoy drinking the cinnamon liqueur, or at least singing about, more than country music artists. The whisky is name dropped in a number of country songs, including Blake Shelton’s “Buzzin’” and Florida Georgia Line’s “Round Here.” The latter group, in particular, has a special fondness for Fireball. According to VICE, the duo regularly takes shots of the whisky on stage, so much so that the drink is “unofficially the official drink of Florida Georgia Line.”

And let us not forget about Taylor Swift. The ultra-popular singer may not enjoy Fireball as much as Florida Georgia Line, but it appears as if she’s been known to indulge in the cinnamon liqueur herself every so often. In 2018, Swift joined famed country music songwriter Craig Wiseman on stage at Nashville’s Bluebird Café. According to the Tennessean, Wiseman told the crowd a story about an afterparty he held following the CMT Awards. When Swift arrived, she requested access to the Fireball Whisky shot room. “I got her a shot of Fireball, and then I got her another one,” Wiseman said. “For the rest of the party, I would go get a shot of Fireball … I don’t even know if she took it, but it disappeared.” The two laughed it off with shot of Fireball before getting back to the music.

What Is Cinnamon Whiskey

Cinnamon whiskey has been on my list to re-make for a while. I made it a number of years ago to go in my apple cider bourbon jello shots, and Ive made it a few times since.

But this time we wanted it to be a bit more spicy like Fireball brand whiskey. The kind that brings the heat when it hits your throat!

The store-bought stuff is made with Canadian whisky, cinnamon flavoring, and sweeteners. But frankly, we can do better at home.

Since Canadian whisky is a rye whiskey, we can skip needing the sweeteners by using bourbon in our homemade Fireball.

The trick to the fiery cinnamon heat? Using more cinnamon sticks and letting it infuse for longer.

If you let the infusion set for a couple of days, youll get a gentle cinnamon flavor that is really lovely. But if you let it sit for a couple of weeks, the cinnamon flavor can get really strong.

Will Drinking Kick You Out Of Ketosis

Getting into ketosis and staying there is primarily driven by following a very low-carb diet. So as long as you dont go over your recommended daily net carb intake, the occasional drink likely wont cause concern.

Additionally, alcohol itself doesnt undo your bodys ability to produce ketones. In fact, the opposite may be true. Alcohol consumption has been associated with a decrease in blood sugar and an increase in ketone production in a few different studies .

However, this absolutely does not mean you should drink a lot on keto to increase ketone levels.

Excessive alcohol consumption can not only lead to serious health concerns but can also be deadly for diabetics because of its role in increased ketone production, leading to alcoholic ketoacidosis .

It is also thought that being in ketosis can decrease alcohol tolerance. However, there is not much research to support this theory.

For this and many other reasons, sound medical advice suggests that if you do choose to drink, only do so in moderation and keep your intake below one drink per day for women and two drinks per day for men .

Bottom line, you are better off avoiding alcohol altogether.

If you do choose to drink occasionally, here are the best and worst types of alcohol for keto.

Fireballs Inspired A Bunch Of Imposters

While the brand might have haters galore, it also inspired a bunch of copycats. Not only did Fireball sue the small brand Stout Brewing Company for creating an almost laughable carbon copy of their liquor , they also sued whiskey giantJack Daniels in the same year. Jack Daniels and Jim Beam both created cinnamon-flavored whiskeys after seeing Fireballs success, but Fireballs beef with Jack came from its use of the word fireball in its Google advertisements. Looks like 2015 was a busy year for Fireball in court.

Beer can also be very carb-heavy depending on the type you choose. Beer is made by fermenting carb-containing grains like barley and wheat. And many beer varieties contain added sugar.

Similar to wine, the final carb count for the beer is dependent on the fermentation process and how much sugar the yeast is allowed to turn into alcohol. Thus, higher alcohol content typically means higher carb when it comes to your beer selection.

Some of the top styles of beer that tend to be high carb include:
