Only EATING Chicken Nuggets for 24 HOURS // Blind Taste Test

White boneless chicken doesn’t sound too bad, does it? According to this video, sponsored by McDonald’s, it is the only part of the chicken currently in the McNuggets recipe. What quality is the chicken? As of 2016, McDonald’s chicken is “not treated with antibiotics important to human medicine.” An important step, for sure. At the end of the day, though, the chicken is still sourced from mass-market factory farms.

Vegetable oil and vegetable starch: If you’re avoiding GMOs, you can count on the likelihood of many of these ingredients coming from genetically modified sources.

Hydrogenated soybean oil is a fully hydrogenated oil that does not contain the trans fats that are found in partially hydrogenated oils. The problem here? Hydrogenated oils can sometime be put through a process called “interesterification,” with some scientific studies indicating they may be just as harmful as trans fats to human health.

Yeast extract is sometimes accused of containing MSG, a chemical that many shun, but it actually is a source of plain old glutamate , which is a naturally occurring substance in foods.

Those are the ingredients that sound relatively normal. How about the rest?

So What About Pink Slime

Sorry to break it to the fast-food skeptics: McNuggets aren’t made from pink slime. The rosy-hued mystery meat is actually made from processed lean beef trimmings, which are sometimes used as fillers to bulk up meat products. According to a revelatory video recorded at one of McDonald’s chicken nugget manufacturing plants, the production process starts off with breast meat, tenderloin, and rib meatzero pink slime in sight. McDonald’s ceased using beef trimmings in their burgers in 2012 but never added the questionable goop to the nuggets.

However, not all nuggets are made equally. A study in the American Journal of Medicine dissected and analyzed chicken nuggets from two undisclosed restaurants and found that both offerings contained much more than just meat. The results showed that the chicken nuggets tested contained equal or greater parts of fat to meat as well as epithelium, bone, nerve, and connective tissue.

According to Reuters Health, the study’s lead author Dr. Richard D. DeShazo of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, acknowledges that the sample size is too small to generalize against all major fast food restaurants and that the chains sampled did not list white boneless meat as the first ingredient in their nuggetslike McDonald’s does.

Is Mcdonalds Chicken Nuggets Are Keto

According to what Ive said, McDonalds chicken nuggets and crispy chicken sandwiches are off-limits to anyone following a ketogenic diet. However, if you have a strong taste for Chicken, the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich is a good option. What exactly is it? If you dont want the bun, you can get away with ordering it without it.

The Chicken McNuggets do not comply with the keto diet. McDonalds Nuggets, for example, are coated with starch and flavored with dextrose, which is a natural taste. Both of these foods will swiftly elevate your blood sugar levels, causing you to exit ketosis.

Why Are Mcdonalds Chicken Nuggets So Good In Taste

McDonalds Chicken Nuggets are super tasty and crunchy. Those who are fans of these nuggets admire everything about them.

The reason why the chicken nuggets taste better at McDonalds is the ingredients. Wondering What are McDonalds chicken nuggets made of? The ingredients used in making McNuggets are

People are often found asking this question at McDonalds, Is McNuggets real chicken? Well, yes, they are made from real boneless chicken pieces.

These are the ingredients that we know. It is possible that there may be some sort of hidden ingredient that gives the final touch to the taste of the chicken nuggets.

But the delicious taste of the Chicken McNuggets must not take away your attention from the fact that they are bad for your health.

    So What About Those Phosphates

This is where things get tricky. Yes, TBHQ and citric acid have been removed from the primary ingredient list. Sodium phosphate has been removed from the ingredient list of the meat portion of the nugget, where it’s presumably been used as a preservative adding moisture to meats, However, sodium aluminum phosphate, sodium acid phosphate, and monocalcium phosphate are still being used in the leavening of the McNugget’s breaded coating. What’s the difference you ask? The difference lies in what exactly the phosphates are used for. In the case of the current McNugget recipe, the particular phosphates in question are inexpensive leavening agents , not preservatives.

Let’s get technical, then. Can McDonald’s say its product is free of artificial preservatives because the artificial preservatives in the food aren’t there for the purpose of preserving the food? Yes, it can. But it’s not just fast food giants like McDonald’s that include ingredients like this in their foods. In fact, sodium phosphates are just one of the many artificial food additives currently allowed by the USDA for use in packaged organic foods. I found sodium phosphate listed just yesterday on my daughter’s package of organic, grass-fed, “free from all artificial preservatives” macaroni and cheese.

Keep in mind folks, McDonald’s promised to remove all artificial “preservatives” from their McNuggets, but not necessarily artificial “additives,” a move that proves to be much more difficult than it may seem.

McDonald’s started out as a beefy burger joint back in 1948, but the world-famous fast-food chain has been offering another high-protein meat â chicken â since the specially molded McNugget made its debut in 1983.

This reading was about an hour after I finished my McDonalds chicken nuggets and Sweet Chili sauce.

I dont know if they offer Sweet Chili sauce in American McDonalds locations, but trust me: Youre not missing much.

For some reason, Koreans love this sweet chili shit. Ive seen people asking for it at Subway, and Im always thinking to myself, why in sam hell would you put that crap on a sandwich.

Anyway, one lil cup of McDonalds Sweet Chili sauce, along with six McNuggets, raised my glucose by 66 mg/dL.

    Im NOT lovin it.

How Much Actual Chicken Is In Mcdonald’s Mcnuggets

It’s always good to see the actual food listed as the first ingredient âwhite boneless chicken.

“The first item on the nutrition label means the food contains more of that one item than any other single ingredient,” said Ochner. So while McNuggets are “made with 100 percent USDA Grade A chicken,” as states , there’s no way of knowing what percentage of the whole nugget is actually chicken.

“White boneless chicken is almost a pure protein, boasting a phenomenal 0.2 protein : kcal ratio with less than 20 percent fat,” explained Ochner. “McNuggets, on the other hand, have a very mediocre 0.046 protein:kcal ratio with 57 percent of kcal from fat. This seems to suggest that the other ingredients, besides chicken, are the primary driver of the macro-nutrient profile,” he said.

With over 30 ingredients listed, it’s easy to see how chicken may actually play a minor role in this dish. It may also explain why the chicken seemed to disappear in an alarming YouTube time-lapse video shot in March 2013 , showing McNuggets left at room temperature over a two-day period.

When Ochner performed this experiment himself , the so-called chicken in the McNuggets pieces remained intact. This disturbing mystery remains unsolved.
