Benefits Of Sugar Wax
1. Natural Ingredients Sugaring uses ingredients you can find in your kitchen, which includes lemon, water, and of course, sugar. No random unknown chemicals. You know what you are putting in your mixture. There will be less risk of an allergic reaction and less irritation after the treatment.
2. Reduced Ingrown Hairs- Shaving and aggressive hair removal can cause ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs grow back into the skin. If not appropriately treated and over time, it can lead to infection or cyst. Aint nobody got time for that.
3. Less Hair Growth- Because sugaring pulls hair from the root, the hair follicle becomes damaged, and over time will slow/stop hair growth.
4. Easy Clean-up- Sugar is water-soluble, so cleanup is super simple. Plain water will get rid of any residue.
5. You Can Make Different Variations At Home- Depending on the temperature and how long you heat the sugar wax in the microwave, you can determine how you apply it and how you remove it. For example, cooked in my microwave for 3 minutes and 30 seconds, I will make a wax where I will apply with a Popsicle stick and remove it with some muslin cloth. If I heat for around a minute longer, I can use it as hard wax. Hard wax can be applied with a Popsicle stick or your fingers, and you do not need a cloth to remove. You simply pull off the wax in the direction of hair growth.
A Note About Wax Strips
Your options are basically two here: you can either buy them or my personal favorite, make them by getting your hands on any pure cotton cloth and rip/cut it into about 3 x 9 inch strips
The directions here were a little lengthy, but after just trying it once, youll notice its super easy and effective. As an odd bonus, try tasting your sugar wax its surprisingly delicious!

Flammability And Heat Response
Because sugars burn easily when exposed to flame, the handling of sugars risks dust explosion. The risk of explosion is higher when the sugar has been milled to superfine texture, such as for use in chewing gum. The 2008 Georgia sugar refinery explosion, which killed 14 people and injured 36, and destroyed most of the refinery, was caused by the ignition of sugar dust.

Please Exfoliate. If you want sugar waxing to work for you, then by all means, exfoliate your skin first. Use a good sugar scrub to gently slough off dead cells, grime and other impurities from your skin. You can easily make your own exfoliating sugar scrub at home by combining ½ cup of sugar and ¼ cup of oil of choice. Hot Shower. Take a hot shower or bath to open the hair follicles and soften skin.
Dont Immediately Sugar Wax After a Shower. Much as I said exfoliate your skin right before sugar waxing and I know almost all of us exfoliate in the shower, dont sugar wax immediately after your shower without properly drying your skin. There shouldnt be any moisture on your skin. Your skin should be completely dry for the wax to hold on to the hairs.
For Perfect Hair Removal. You can even dust baby/talcum powder or plain corn starch all over the areas youre going to wax, wait for maybe an hour then sugar wax. The powder will help the sugar wax grip onto your hairs easier.

What Is Coarse Sugar
As you can tell from its name, coarse sugar has much larger crystals than regular white sugar.
The larger size of the crystals makes the sugar stronger and more resistant to heat. This type of sugar also helps to give baked goods or candy a little texture.
Coarse sugar is used mainly for decorating and comes in a rainbow of colors. Because of this, it is sometimes called decorating sugar.
I like topping my Cherry Hand Pies recipe with coarse sugar for a little texture and added sweetness.

Waxing is known for being the best way to remove unwanted body hair. Hair that has been waxed tends to grow back slower than hair that has been shaved off. However, waxing can be slightly expensive.

Remove Hair With Diy Homemade Sugar Wax: Cheap Plastic
The BlogHer conference is this weekend. Time for my annual eyebrow wax and pedicure. You know the saying that women dress for each other? When it comes to BlogHer, that saying couldnt be more true. All other days of the year, Im a pretty low maintenance gal. I mean, how often do I write about cosmetics on this blog? Almost never. But when the BlogHer Estrogen Fest rolls around, I get all self-conscious about my neglected feet and crazy eyebrows.
Witness the crazy eyebrows for yourself. Dont see what Im talking about? Thats okay. I see the crazy, and thats what matters.
This time, instead of paying $15 for someone to slather paraffin wax on my face and rip it off with half my skin, I decided to save my money and inflict the pain on myself. I found some ancient wax strips and a sugar waxing kit in the bathroom cabinet. I cant remember buying them, so Id guess they could be over 7 years old.
The wax strips are paraffin coated plastic. Im not interested in using them, and as I recall, they never worked anyway. Into the plastic collection they go, unless I can find someone who wants them. The Sally Hansen sugar wax kit seemed like a possibility, despite all the plastic packaging until I read the ingredients. In addition to various kinds of sugars and herbal extracts, the stuff contains methylparaben , imidazolidinyl urea , and artifical colors. Um no thanks.
How To Reheat Hard Sugaring Wax
If your sugaring wax is in a glass jar, you can reheat it in the microwave for 5 10 seconds or more. It depends on the amount of wax in the jar.
For plastic containers that are not microwave-safe, place the container in a warm water bath to heat slowly.
Reheating sugar wax in warm water takes a lot of time, so make sure to store sugar wax in a microwave-safe glass container.

As someone who works with oil-based products all the time, I have to add that this stuff cleans up like a dream. Hot water dissolves it. Done. It couldn’t be easier!
