Try out sweet potatoes. While they sound like they should have more sugars, they have fewer than normal white potatoes. They taste sweeter, which helps with kicking the sugar cravings first thing on a morning.
Dont opt for the pre-cut and packages sweet potatoes. Get your own to wash, peel and chop. You have more control over the additives within the vegetable. You could even grow your own or buy organic from the store for a healthier lifestyle.

Treating Low Blood Sugar
You are at risk of having a low blood sugar reaction if you:
- Skip or delay a meal or snack
- Take too much insulin or eat too few carbohydrates
- Drink alcohol, especially without eating carbohydrates
Check your blood sugar if you have any of these symptoms:
- Weakness and/or fatigue
If your blood sugar is less than 70 milligrams per deciliter :
- Eat 15 to 30 grams of carbohydrate
- Wait 15 minutes and then recheck your blood sugar

If you think you may have low blood sugar, check it even if you dont have symptoms.
When too many ketones are produced too fast, they can build up in your body and cause diabetic ketoacidosis, or DKA. DKA is very serious and can cause a coma or even death. Common symptoms of DKA include:
- Fast, deep breathing.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Stomach pain.
