If You Drink White Claw Every Night You Could Avoid A Hangover

HOME MADE WHITE CLAW – Soda Stream Recipe [Low Calorie and Sugar]

Beer before liquor, never been sicker liquor before beer, you’re in the clear. Is there room for White Claw in that old adage? Dr. Niket Sonpal, a gastroenterologist and member of Touro College of Medicine’s faculty, told Bustle the clear beverage holds its own special place in the hangover realm. According to Sonpal, White Claw does not contain congeners, “a byproduct of the fermentation process … Found in dark liquors, dark beers and red wine” that “have long been thought to increase the intensity of a hangover.”

So if you drink White Claw every night, “the hangover … could be less intense for some people,” Sonpal said, “especially if they don’t generally experience stomachaches.” Sonpal also pointed to White Claw’s alcohol by volume five percent which he said is less than half of wine’s ABV 10 to 15 percent. He noted that if “you drink the same amount of wine as you would hard seltzer,” the hangover would be notably more severe. And if you’re sensitive to gluten, Sonpal said you may also feel better the day after drinking gluten-free White Claw.

White Claw Helped Popularize The Term Hard Seltzer

The term “hard seltzer” is ubiquitous nowadays but that wasn’t always the case, and we can likely thank White Claw for the change.

According to VinePair, prior to 2019, “hard seltzer” and “spiked seltzer” were used evenly. It simply depended on which region of the country you were in. Google trends data showed most people in the Western United States used the phrase “hard seltzer” in their internet searches, while those along the East Coast and parts of the Midwest preferred “spiked seltzer.” Fast forward to the summer of 2019 and the vast majority of the U.S. had added “hard seltzer” to their lexicon, the term of choice for White Claw Hard Seltzer.

There’s no proof that White Claw alone is responsible for the change, but you don’t need to be much of a detective to connect the dots. The naming shift and White Claw’s popularity surge occurred simultaneously. In the 12-month span from May 2018 to May 2019, sales of the drink grew an eye-popping 320%.

By the end, only seven states were still searching for “spiked seltzer,” and they were all located in the Northeast. VinePair surmises that people in this region may have been influenced by another seltzer brand, Truly, which is a subsidiary of the local Boston Beer Company. When the brand was established in 2016, it marketed itself as “Truly Spiked and Sparkling.” It has since joined the party and rebranded as Truly Hard Seltzer.

There Are Many Different White Claw Products

It would have been easy for White Claw to ride the wave of success its trademark variety packs have provided. Instead, the company has continued to evolve with the introduction of several new products.

It started in March 2021 when White Claw unveiled hard seltzer iced tea . Available in four flavors , each drink contains the same 100 calories and 5% ABV White Claw is known for. “You combine the leader in hard seltzer with the ever-growing tea trend, and you’ve got a winner,” said John Shea, the company’s chief marketing officer. The very next month, White Claw dialed things up with its new Surge line . Unlike their smaller, less-boozy sister products, Surge comes in 16-ounce cans and contains 8% alcohol. “We know some consumers are looking for a higher alcohol option from White Claw, and that’s what White Claw Hard Seltzer Surge delivers,” Shea said.

In early 2022, the company debuted White Claw Surf. According to a press release, the new line is the brand’s first “full flavor offering.” Those “full flavors” include Citrus Yuzu Smash, Tropical Pomelo Smash, Watermelon Lime Smash, and Wildberry Acai Smash. Most recently, White Claw unveiled REFRSHR, a new take on hard lemonade . REFRSHR comes in four distinctly unique flavor combinations: Limón with Calamansi, Blood Orange with Black Raspberry, Blackberry with Red Cherry, and Strawberry with Kiwi.

Is White Claw Healthier Than Beer

    White Claw

With summer around the corner, peak White Claw season will soon be upon us. Ahead of the warmer weather months, the hard seltzer brand recently revealed new flavors, much to the delight of fans everywhere. White Claw, owned by CEO Anthony von Mandl of Mark Anthony Brands, is becoming more popular than beer. This past July, it dominated beverage sales, claiming 60 percent of the hard seltzer market in the U.S. and outselling every craft beer brand, even industry giant Budweiser .

A big factor in Whites Claw success, especially among younger consumers, is its perceived health benefits. Marketed with the tagline Made Pure, a 12-ounce can of the gluten-free hard seltzer boasts just 100 calories and two grams of carbs. In comparison, a 12-ounce bottle of Budweiser contains about 145 calories and 10.6 grams of carbs, as seen in PopSugar. And theres a certain impression among consumers that White Claw is a clean source of alcohol that is less taxing on their bodies, and less filling or bloating than beer or sweet cocktails . But is the spiked seltzer actually healthier than beer?

If You Drink White Claw Every Night You Could Increase Your Risk Of Liver Disease

Lisa Richards, a nutritionist and author of The Candida Diet, who believes in the benefits of a low-sugar, anti-inflammatory diet, said that drinking alcohol on a regular basis, regardless of the type or amount of calories and sugar it contains, can lead to some negative health consequences, most notably liver disease.

“If you drink White Claw daily you will increase your risk for liver disease, gastrointestinal issues and some cancers,” Richards told The List. She explained that drinking daily puts the liver under excessive stress and the beverage’s alcohol by volume content can lead to ulcers and inflammation in the gut and cellular damage leading to cancer. And while your tolerance to alcohol will likely increase if you consume it daily because “over time the body will increase the rate that the body metabolizes alcohol” that is not necessarily a good thing. ” does this by boosting the amount of enzymes used to break it down, making it necessary to drink more for the same effects,” Richards said.

    Health Benefits Of Seltzer

There has been a shift in the food and drink industry toward more health-conscious products. In the past few years, youve probably noticed tons of new low-calorie drinks on the shelves of your local grocery store.

Every year, more Americans are letting go of sugary soft drinks like soda, and many of them are going to be looking for a healthy alternative. This is where seltzer comes in.

From 2012-2017, seltzer sales had risen 42%, and it only keeps growing. This rise in popularity has been driven by increased media attention, especially in food and drink publications.

Seltzer has become a favorite in offices, so much so that it has almost become a stereotype that office workers always keep the fridge stocked with La Croix. It tastes better than water. And it has almost the same amount of calories, with little to no sugar. As an everyday drink, seltzer isnt a bad option.

The nutritional profile of seltzer is what has allowed brands to market their products adjacent to wellness drinks. Millennials are a major segment of wellness consumers, which explains why so many young people are drinking seltzer nowadays.

Are Hard Seltzers Better For Weight Loss

It is difficult to say whether hard seltzers are better for weight loss than other alcoholic beverages or food options without knowing your specific dietary needs and nutritional goals. However, in general, hard seltzers can be a helpful addition to a weight loss plan because they are lower in calories than regular beer, wine, and many other alcoholic drinks.

For example, traditional malt beers contain around 200 calories per 12 ounces while hard seltzers contain only around 100 calories.

Moreover, a 12-ounce hard seltzer contains only 2-3 grams of carbohydrates while a regular beer contains around 15 grams. Hard seltzers also contain no sugars, fat or sodium, making them a great option for those on a weight loss plan.

In addition, many hard seltzer brands contain added vitamins and electrolytes, making them a healthier option than most beer and wine. For example, White Claw contains 130% of your daily required vitamin C, whereas a beer does not contain any added vitamins.

So, if youre looking for an alcoholic beverage with added health benefits, hard seltzers may be a better option for weight loss.

However, it should be noted that hard seltzers still contain alcohol, which can lead to excess calorie consumption, dehydration, and other negative health effects. Therefore, if youre trying to lose weight, its important to limit your alcohol consumption, regardless of the type of drink you choose.

If You Drink White Claw Every Night You Will Be Filling Your Body With Empty Calories

White Claw’s low-carb, low-calorie makeup and light fruity flavor may have attracted many health-conscious drinkers, but Everyday Health calls those values a “health halo,” stating that the drink is filled with empty calories that don’t support your health.

“There are no real nutritional benefits from consumption of hard seltzer, as they are primarily just empty calories,” Mia Syn, a registered dietitian nutritionist in Charleston, S.C., told the website. Placing the drink into a category of “fun foods,” the nutritionist said consumption of the beverage is fine but should be kept “to a minimum” drinking it daily will only fill your body with empty calories. “They provide energy, but no other nutrition like vitamins and minerals,” she said.

Judging the drink only in terms of calories and carbs or even by its lower alcohol content can be misleading, the expert added, saying that many consumers see it as a “free pass.” Syn said, “Someone could view this drink as healthy and ‘diet-friendly,’ which could lead to someone consuming more, increasing both the number of calories and quantity of alcohol.” So, if you want to drink White Claw every night, just know that you’re not doing your body any favors in terms of caloric intake.

You Could Stay In Ketosis If You Drink White Claw Every Night

Are you following a Keto diet? If so, making the decision to drink White Claw every night instead of other alcoholic drinks may be in your best interest. Experts say that drinking the clear bubbly concoction will actually help you stay in ketosis. Calling White Claw lighter than beer or mixed drinks with a high sugar content, Courtney Dunn, a registered dietitian in San Diego, told Refinery29 the drink “could definitely be a good substitute if you were trying to lose weight or stick within your macro goal.”

Molly Knudsen, M.S., RDN, praised White Claw’s keto benefits to Mind Body Green Health. “Typically, most people following a keto diet keep their carb intake at 50 grams or less a day. So sparing two of those grams for a White Claw every now and then is totally feasible,” she said. Defining mixed drinks as keto killers, Knudsen says the low carb value of White Claw is actually a perfect fit for keto dieters. She explained, “Any drink with fruit juice, sweetened sodas, or simple syrups are going to be loaded with carbs and could knock you out of ketosis in a snap.”

If You Drink White Claw Every Night You Could Get Gas

    White Claw Pancakes Recipe

Yes, White Claw is low cal and low carb, but you could experience some negative side effects if you drink White Claw every night most notably, gas.

According to Maggie Moon, MS, RDN, who spoke with Men’s Health, when you drink carbonated beverages you undoubtedly swallow air which eventually must exit your system as a “fart or a belch.”

“Carbonated drinks release carbon dioxide gas, adding to the air in your esophagus that finds its way back out through belching,” Moon told Men’s Health. If you find that you’re farting excessively after drinking carbonated beverages, Moon says it’s likely more a “result of bacteria interacting with stomach acid, fatty acids, or unabsorbed carbohydrates .” Moon suggested to consume smaller amounts or to drink more slowly, which can help you avoid ingesting a lot of air. She also advised drinkers to “skip the straw.”

So, when you think of foods that can cause gas, you better add White Claw to the list.
