What Youll Need To Make Keto Ketchup

You should already have all the basic tools needed to make this low-carb sugar-free ketchup recipe. These are:

  • A small or medium saucepan with a lid
  • A whisk
  • A blender If you dont have a regular jug blender, you can substitute an immersion blender .

Heres another pro tip: if you cant find powdered monk fruit, simply make your own by blending granulated sweetener into a fine powder!

Start by whisking all the ingredients together in a small saucepan. Then, simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. The mixture will reduce, meaning some of the water evaporates, the flavors will combine, and the sugar-free ketchup will thicken.

The amount of time needed for the keto ketchup to reduce and thicken will vary widely. It will depend on the size of your pan and the temperature of your stove. Just continue simmering gently, stirring occasionally, until its as thick as you want it.

Finally, puree the sugar-free ketchup in a blender. This step is not required, but I highly recommend it for the smoothest texture that is most similar to the ketchup youre probably used to.

There are several condiments that are keto-friendly:

  • Mustard Stone ground, brown, and yellow. For 1 Tbsp there are 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 fat.
  • Mayonnaise Hellmans is the best. For 1 Tbsp there are 100 calories, 10 grams of fat, and 0 carbs.
  • Relish Dillfor 1 Tbsp there are 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 fat.

Substitutes For Ketchup On Keto

There are a few brands that do make low carb ketchups without any added sugar. G Hughes, Alterna Sweets, and Primal Kitchen are all good brands to look at.

You can also substitute ketchup with other condiments that are more keto friendly.

Mustard, for example, doesnt have any net carbs. I personally love mustard on a hot dog or burger!
